Alessandro Balducci, Architect and PhD in Planning. Full professor of Planning and Urban Policies and member of the PhD Program in Urban Planning, Design and Policy. He has been Deputy - Mayor for Urban Planning and Agriculture of the City of Milan in 2015-16. Vice-Rector of Politecnico di Milano from 2010 to 2015, Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning (2001-2008), President of AESOP, the Association of the European Schools of Planning (2001-2004), Chair of the Italian Society of Urbanists (SIU), (2010-2014) and has been among the founding members of the European Urban Research Association (EURA).
As a scholar in the urban studies and planning he has been responsible of European and National research projects; as an academic planner he has been responsible for many projects among which the Strategic plan of the Province of Milan (2004-2008), and has been advisor for plans and urban projects in Italy and abroad (Shanghai, Dubai).
He has been teaching at the Faculty of Architecture of Pescara (1992-1995), has been visiting scholar at U.C. Berlekey, USA, and visiting professor at the University of Reims, France, Tongij University, China, Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, MIT Cambridge, USA and at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Switzerland.
He is author/editor of 17 books, and of more than 100 articles and essays in Italian and English.
